I have turned a few rocks over. Even seined the water a time or two and I have never, not even once seen a size 16 or even close.

Why is it everyone ties thier sows so big?

Just curious.

I usually fish a size #14 or a #20, just to cover bases. I have seen size #16 sows before though, but it might not have been at this time of the year.

Actually, what really happens is that the bigger sows are better at hiding, so you won't see them as much as the smaller more naive sows. Plus they only come out at night and can change colors to blend into their surroundings. You know that splashing you sometimes hear while fishing close to dark? You thought those were beavers? No, it's the sows.

I know it sounds crazy and it is. It is.

Forget about the size 16 and 14's, make sure you have some size 10's. By June those female sow's will be plumper than Aunt Jamima at a pancake eating contest. And yes they are camillion like and blend into their surroundings so they are hard to see. Cheech might have to tell you about his Sow Bug night hunts he goes on during the summer. They are great bass bait from what I hear.
