Well, a few of us are heading to Utah Lake on Saturday to try for some White Bass, Walleye, Carp, or anything else that will take our fly. This will be the first time we've fished Utah Lake. Has anyone ever fly fished Utah Lake? Any suggestions on where to go, what to use, etc? Any suggestions Ed? Hopefully we can mark off a few species for the Fish Challenge.
BTW, anyone is more than welcome to meet up with us. We'll be in float tubes and pontoons.

American Fork boat harbor is best bet for the white bass using chartreuse buggers or white. North of the pumphouse on the jordan River there is a feeder spring creek that has a large mouth club, they all go there for a drink of water. I do not know about the carp I would bet they are all overthe place though.

I have been out on a boat but never a float tube or kickboat but the wind can be nasty. hope you don't end up on the west side of the lake it is a long walk from saratoga springs back to the east shore.
Ask Drewtrout. He said he fishes it in the spring.

Shouldent the Walleye be stacking up right about now in Utah Lake for the spawn?

Yep. We'll most likely be heading down near Lincoln Beach and Benjamin Creek area.

The walleye should already be on the spawn - some may already be done - some may not have started.
I can't be of much help because I haven't been out there this year. If you are looking for a mixed bag (to get your points), Lincoln Beach is a good bet for walleye, white bass, carp and crappie. There are probably better places to go for individual species, but at Lincoln Beach you have a chance at several types.
As far as flies, Chris is right: white or chartreuse - I always use beadheads and will go down to a size 14 (for crappie and white bass). I will also use a small white beadhead bugger w/ a small red tail. For the bass and crappie, I basically do a bobber and jig impression w/ a strike indicator and a beadhead bugger. For walleye, I like to get the fly (clousers are good for them as well) right off the bottom.
Sorry I don't have any more information. Let us know how you did - I would like to try for some white bass if they are concentrated.
Also, I got a walleye out at Willard a couple of weeks ago. Put a lot of time in for him and got my points but he wasn't really worth it. Caught him out by the light pole. Wiper should start coming around that area shortly as well (if they are not already there).

Looks like we're heading to the Saratoga Springs area near the resort. Not sure exactly where though. Anyone is more than welcome to meet up with us. We should be on the water by 10-11am and fishing through the afternoon. Hopefully the wind won't be too bad.

Any other day would have worked, but I have a family commitment right when you boys are heading down there. I would be interested in knowing how things go. If any of you would be willing to shoot me an E-mail on Monday, I sure would appreciate it. Good luck to you. I hope you all slay em'. My e-mail is mwest@btinc.com.
