2003 FLY TYING CONTEST
We're ready for our 2003 fly tying contest! This year's contest is a little different from other years. This year we're going to have more emphasis on technique and materials versus specific fly categories. Have fun, and good luck! We will have great prizes for each week's winner. Prizes to be named at a later date.
Western Rivers Flyfisher Fly Tying Contest Rules and Registration Form
This free fly tying contest is for fun and we encourage fly tiers of all skill levels to participate. All flies that are entered into the contest will be accepted and judged.
1. The category and deadlines are as follows. Flies received after each deadline for the category will not qualify for judging or prizes.
· April 4: Synthetics
· April 11: Duck & Turkey
· April 18: Spun Hair
· April 25: Streamers
2. Flies will be judged by 5 judges on the merits of:
· Quality of the pattern
· Proportions and balance
· Fishability
· Pattern creativity
3. Each week we will select 3 top patterns, with one winner/pattern selected as the weekly winner. The winner of the top fly of the week will be eligible for the Grand Prize. Each of the top 3 weekly patterns will receive a prize.
4. A maximum of three (3) patterns may be submitted per contestant for each category.
5. Registration forms are available on-line or at Western Rivers Flyfisher.
6. Commercially tied patterns will not be accepted.
