thanks,
Jeff

things went really well today with the daughter. however, I really came away from that fly shop bummed out. got there, picked out the things I needed, and they shop was slow.
well, a sales person, Nate, was very nice, and willing to share his knowledge with me. I'd seen ton's of this stuff, but never had a few minutes I could spend in a decent fly shop with somebody willing to show me things / let me test them out, and get a feel for this stuff.
I picked up 3 rods, and my fourth was love at first feel. it felt good from the first time I picked the thing up, and it was almost like love at first site. however, it's over my budget...
it was a winston, but not sure what modle. bummer - with I would of found that rod when I had a little extra $$$.

Solo,
You just reminded me of the time I spent last year at Primary Childrens. My son was in the intensive care unit for a number of weeks and I would spend hours on end there, rocking him and taking care of him. Sometimes the whole event was just so emotionally drawing. So one day I decided to go for a drive and my car, to my dismay, took me right in front of Western Rivers. Spent a while there looking around and talking to Steve, I think I may have purchased a few minor things. After that, I made sure to visit a couple of times a week. It really was an emotional pick-me-up. Thanks for the reminder!

Fishtech - that's too bad about your son. I hope all is well now. I've got 2 austic kids, which is extrememly challenging, but their general health is extremely good. I can't imagine going through wekks of having a child in ICU.
I was really impressed with Western Rivers. it wasn't so much the shop, but the attitude / willingness of everybody in there. I really like the atmosphere.
Western Rivers is an extraordinary shop with extraordinary staff. That's an easy way to sum it up. All of those guys are extremely knowledgeable and incredibly nice to boot. Steve has done an excellent job making WR what it is.

a guy on FAOL found a place I can get blanks for the IBIS for $100... the color is off, but I don't care about that. I can promise you that over the years western rivers will get more and more of my business.
I was planning on spending $20 there yesterday, and walked out spending $50... :)

ok - it was Ken I was dealing with, and I got an email back from him this morning. he remembered me, and confirmed that rod I was testing was the Ibis.
I'm going to see if western rivers can get this discolored blanks, and work with them if they can.

Solo,
Thanks. My boy is fine now. You would never know he had the problems that he did. They have an amazing staff up there!
My first impression is that you must be very blessed, for the Lord to entrust you with two autistic children. You say that you couldn't imagine having a child in the ICU for that long, but I couldn't imagine the patience and skills you must have to be able to raise two autistic children. I don't think I could ever have that much patience and understanding.
Regarding Western Rivers, over the years, I have become a loyal customer. Their service is a model that every fly shop should copy.
Best wishes to you and yours,
Fishtech
