We are now accepting entries for our 2nd annual Fly Tying Contest! We've got some great prizes lined up, so bring your best patterns!
Western Rivers Flyfisher Fly Tying Contest Rule and Registration Form
This fly tying contest will focus on trout flies that are predominantly tied out of natural materials. All trout flies that are entered into the contest will be accepted and judged. This is for fun and we encourage tiers of all abilities to participate.
1. The category and deadlines are as follows. Flies received after each deadline for the category will not qualify for judging or prizes.
1. March 8 Dry Flies
2. March 15 Nymphs
3. March 22 Emergers
4. March 29 Terrestrials
2. Flies will be judged by 5 judges on the merits of:
· Quality of the pattern
- Proportions and balance
- Fishability
· Pattern creativity
· Use of natural materials. The use of natural materials will be viewed as favorable by the panel of judges vs. those patterns tied solely out of synthetic materials.
3. Each week there will be one winner/pattern selected. That winner will be eligible for the Grand Prize.
4. A maximum of three (3) patterns may be submitted per contestant for each category.
5. Registration forms are available on-line or at Western Rivers Flyfisher.
6. Commercially tied patterns will not be accepted.
