A friend gave me a couple of Pheasant hides (saddles and necks) along with several tails. I have some ideas about what to tie with the tail fibers, but those other feathers are very pretty.
Any links/pictures/recipes for flies using pheasant feathers (not the tail)?

but I personally love tying with cathedral feathers, or pheasant rump feathers. I tie a pattern called the Olive Willey which uses chartruse dyed pheasant rump. Cathdral feathers make great legs on a yellow sally nymph. Do a Google search for cathedral (aka. church window) feathers, or pheasant rump. You should find something.

The cathedral feathers also make great wings for grasshoppers like the Gartside Pheasant Hopper. Other feathers can be used for soft hackle and legs for some nymphs. Let your imagination be your guide.

The lacquered rump feathers make nice wingcases for stonefly nymphs too.

Search Google for the "General Practitioner" steelhead fly if that's something you're interested in. It uses pheasant neck and body feathers.

My favorite fly from pheasant body feathers is the Carey Special which uses the long rump feathers. It's a very simple and popular pattern for lakes in British Columbia and the pacific northwest. Nice fly.
I also like to use fibers from the chest feathers that are black on the tips for tails on some flies and nymphs, similar to Lady Amherst pheasant tippet use but darker and more durable.
