I can hold one if enough interest. It would be a midge one as well.
Let me know!
I can go 15 as well.

I would be interested in a midge swap. Just let me know the details when you get them (how many to tie for, deadlines, etc.)
thanks, mcg

Anymore that are interested?
I am very new to this and could use some enlightenment. How does this work? I don't know that I have any "secret" killer flies to share but would certainly be willing to tie something up. The problem is that you could probably go get it at the corner drug store. I'm just getting a bit more serious about flyfishing and have a lot to learn. Old dog new tricks.
Thanks for any info

I've got a couple of great midge patterns but am not sure how you operate your swaps. Let me know what it entails and I would probably be interested in sharing one of them.
Trout4x
11-21-2002, 12:41 AM
Be sure to attach a label on each of your flies and to put your flies in a crushproof container. Keep in mind that some patterns may be larger than yours, so make sure that your container will be large enough (i.e., I've found that small Altoids cans are not always big enough).
Include either: · a return self-addressed stamped envelope or ·enough cash or a check to cover postage/container. Priority mail is a good deal at US $3 and includes the packaging.
Do NOT use metered postage (either a stamp or a sticker you get from the post office). The post office won't ship any metered or dated postage unless it is shipped on the same day. So if you include postage make sure that you use stamps.
We have 15 participants, so you'll need to send me at least 14 flies When you are done with your flies (or before) email me a pattern recipe, tying instructions, fishing tips and/or other commentary about your fly.
In return you will get one of each of the flies entered.
Any questions email me.

I picked up my flies today. They all look great but only about half of them have labels on them. I hope it is not because of the tyers doubt in his ability to tie a good pattern. I would not be ashamed to take credit for any of them.
Bruce-
Where do you get that fancy card stock for your cards? Hell, they look as good as your fly!
Trouty
12-27-2002, 07:50 PM
they came in the mail. They look great! Am looking forward to trying them out.
Like Larry S said, only about half of them have labels so I'll have to wait until the tying intructions come out so I match them up.
Hey Larry, on what waters have you tried that trailing shuck puppy of yours? Its different than any others I've tied and I find that intriguing. How has it compared to other standard midge patterns and what other colors do you like to tie it up in? Go ahead and shoot me an e-mail if you would prefer not post it here.
Thanks again T4X, the swap went great. Sorry about losing contact with Raposa - its too bad he got laid-off (that sucks!) but you shouldn't have to eat the extra expense and work of sending out another packet to everyone.

Thanks to Trout4X for everything he has done. Good job!
Thanks to all that tied. I will be spending some time on the vise stocking my boxes with them!
Larry thanks for the kind comments. I'm glad you like them. I used MS Publisher to put them together. I just used the business card template and added my own stuff. I cut the Uotf logo off the home page and pasted it in.(With Mike's permission of course!)
I just printed them on Avery printable magnet sheets that I picked up at Staples and then just cut them out. It was pretty simple really!
Tight Lines, Bruce

Thanks T4X for running this one, and thanks to everybody who contributed. There's some nice bugs in this box. I'll be trying these out this coming week.
BTW, here's the recipe for mine:
Hook: Tiemco 200r #22
Head: 2mm black tungsten against the eye, x-small glass ruby behind
Body:8/0 black, ribbed with x-fine red wire
I also coated the entire body with cement.
Larry S.

Between you and Jim Lake(Jim @ Round Rocks) I guess I will have to pretty up the discount cards I made for our tying club. Jim wondered why mine weren't in color and after seeing yours I'll probably get glares at the next meeting.
Trouty-
I've had luck with it at Spring Hollow(3rd Dam-Logan River) as well as the Henry's Fork below the bridge at Ashton to name a few places. The colors are pretty basic but I have used olive grizzly hackle but like the regular grizz better. Brown is also good.
Anyone wanting tying instructions for the pattern send me an e-mail address and I'll send you a Wd. Perf. formatted page along with a pic.
Thanks again Noel.
