View Full Version : What do you think...glo-in-the-dark foam?
I may have found a source for glo-in-the-dark lime colored sheet foam. Just think... put a little of this on a fly body or for a wing post and you could follow your fly well after dark.
Now you see it...now you don't...SET the hook!

Sounds like a reasonable product, but how long does the glow actually last? Have you tested it?
Speaking of foam, Wapsi just came out with a new foam product called Razor Foam. They come in very very thin sheets. We got some samples at WR last night. I'm just trying to think how to use them. RAW, I'm sure you could think of a use.

RAW I think it would be worth a shot. Hopefully it will glow for a long period of time.
Keep us informed.

How many flashes will it take?

the "Fox Fire" yarn I picked up at Sportsmans; you can use it for dry fly posts/wings and also on streamers/bucktails.
At night I've held it under a small flashlight for 20-30 seconds and got several casts out of it.
Kind of spooky at night bring it back as it almost looks suspended. In daylight it looks white but at night it appears as a light emerald green. Spooky.
Ed Kent told me he has used similar stuff at night up at Stawberry.
As I said before somewhere here.....
I have a shrimp and a squid saltwater pattern that I use "glow in the dark" material as an inner body glow. It is a neat effect.

JW, I was thinking the same thing as well as a pull-over/shellback for spinner fall patterns.

I know up on Rock Creek in Montana, the stoneflies go absolutely crazy when hatching at night, as do the fish. A glow in the dark body or a down wing would be perfect.
Then again, like i mentioned in a different thread, firefly pattern is where its at.
