Outstanding trip to the mountains last week! Left Wed. afternoon and didn't drop the pack on the ground until 3:00 am. The small streams were loaded with brookies that would take anything resembling an insect. Had the best lake fishing of my life this trip. I even had a double on a Adams/P-tail setup! Couldn't have asked for a better trip. Good fishing good friends and good memories.

I just returned from our trip as well. Quite an awesome place. For the most part, the brookies we encountered were of the overpopulated, "stunted" variety, but the river we fished had enough goldens and cutts in the better lies to make it interesting, and the 20"+ cutts on one of the lakes that you had to stalk from boulders were awesome. Then the 24 1/2" (measured) brookie my buddy landed from another lake was absolutely incredible. He also landed an 18" brookie, and refers to this as a *small* one.

We fished one lake, loaded wiht 14 - 19 inch cutts, that you couldnt keep off the big dries. In fact, quickly stripping a Dave's hopper, or something similar, resulted in viscious, bass-like strikes.

An amazing place, we'll be back!

I returned from my trip into the Winds a week ago. We circled up past Senneca Lake over Lester pass and down into the Cook Lakes and out through Pole Creek. I must agree with both of you that the area is a beautiful, fish-filled place. Caught my first Goldens and had fun catching some nice-sized Brookies and many other Brookies that would pounce on anything that resembled a bug. Thank goodness for Stimulators.

Probably the most adventurous day was when a rescue helicopter circled over the lake we were fishing. Not only did it put all the fish down, but when it landed a few hundred yards from our camp we were more than curious which one of us they had come to haul out. It turned out that further down the trail a 17-year old girl had fallen and busted up her head and neck. We went down with the emergency crew and hauled her out on a backboard. Not the most pleasant way out of the backcountry, but possibly the easiest.

Graycliff and Cary, which areas did you visit. No specifics needed if you desire not to, but just curious which general areas you visited.

Man, thats too bad about the injured girl, hope she made it through OK.

We took the Bears Ears trail (on horses) out of Dickinson park and fished the lakes and streams in the Little Wind River Drainage.

Went in at the Big Sandy trailhead. Sad to say our fish weren't as big as yours, we'll have to get those next year.

Has anyone fished the Green up above Green River Lakes? The water has that glacial silt torqoise coloration to it. Just wondering if its worth my time. I think we're heading up that way in early Sept.
