I Went camping for a few days in Idaho, Bloomington canyon. Fished a little and had some excitement Friday night. Our group was sitting around the fire a nice way to end a great day of fishing. It is now 11:00 pm, a young man came into the camp site and asked if anyone had a cell phone, he needed to call his dad because he had a flat tire.

I noticed he was wet up to his chest and that he had a little blood on his shirt and arms, I asked him how did he get wet the roads are dry, he answered said they have been fishing. I thought it has been dark for quite some time.

We kept asking questions and he kept giving a little more info, but he just kept saying I really messed up over and over. Well to make this short, he was with 3 other kids and they all had been drinking, they rolled their truck over the edge of the road down into the creek and they did have 4 flat tires as well.

The cops were called we only found two of the boys the ones we found said the others were hiding. The truck was finally recovered over the edge which was a long ways down, the truck had to have rolled 4 times at least. And that is all I know.

All I can say is drinking & driving does not mix, we were lucky because they were coming up the canyon and passed our last tent and went over the edge about 200 yards from where we were at.

Trout4x,

I'm really familiar with that canyon. It gets a little hairy up higher and I can see where a truck could roll if someone wasn't careful. I wish that beautiful lake at the top of the canyon had trout in it. I would go up there a little more. One time it had some cutts in it and I caught a bunch; 8-10-inchers from the bank. Next year took my family up with my float tube and not a fish to be seen. I read an article in one of the local papers from the Bear Lake area and it said attempts have been made to plant fish in there on several ocassions but they just never seem to survive. Probably winter kill? Anyway, great canyon and nice scenery. Sounds like you are an official member of "Search and Rescue " now.

I have been twice to the lake this year and have done very well.

I have seen plenty of fish out swimming, both times this year I have just walked around the lake.

I'll have to go check it out again. Maybe they are trying to get them established again. It's been about 3-4 years since I went up there with the tube. The one year I did catch them, you could see them swimming around in the deep clear, cold water. The next year with the tube, I couldn't spot one trout, and I never had one hit.

Did you fish the little creek at all? It's sort of fun, when you're in to little agressive trout. A few nice ones (12-inches) in there too. I use to have permission (verbal) to fish down in some of the meadows. Brushy. My first experience with a mad bull. Was walking through some brush to get to the next opening and ran into a mad bull. It was resting in the shade. It charged me and I had to run around some trees to get away from it. I beelined it for the barbed wire fence and got to the other side.

Sounds like you had a fun camping trip.

Did not fish the creek, I looked at a couple sections did not see anything.

I am hoping to get back in August.
