Ok all you central and southern Utahns. I am looking for any info on Johnson Reservoir. Any and all information would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The reservoir is nothing but stunted perch and thousands of suckers. I was down there in June and the tributaries were choked with spawning suckers. The DWR planted 5000 Tiger Muskies two years ago to try and control the perch and trash-fish. Unfortunately, warm-water fish plus more warm-water fish never equals better trout fishing. It's sad, because it used to be a great cutthroat fishery. I wish I had better news for you.

What about facilities? Do they have a boat ramp? thanks.

There is a campground to the west and a boat ramp on the east, before you reach the dam.

I drove past Johnson Reservoir on July 24th...the lake is extremely low and the water is off-colored.

Renegade...when was Johnson ever an excellent cutthroat trout fishery? In my lifetime (20+ years) Johnson as not even had cutthroat trout. Also, Johnson is no longer being managed as a trout fishery...with the constant sucker and perch migration of fish from Fish Lake, it just isn't a viable option. Right now the only hope is that the tiger musky become a sport fishing option...but the lake is probably too shallow and warm (musky are not warm water species). Tiger musky were not stocked as a means to control other species, but to provide some sort of sport angling on the mud hole called Johnson. I remember when the DWR would treat the lake and try to kill off the chubs and suckers...trout fishing would last, at most, two years before it was a joke.

I use to catch Cutthroat Trout after the last treatment, with a lot of rainbows and hybrids.

If you are heading down that way then I suggest doing some fishing on Fish Lake. I was down there over the 24th and float tubed in the mornings and evenings. The fishing was great! Johnsons is definitly low and shallow. So mabe give Fish Lake a try..... Good fishing to all
