I plan on being there Friday AM. Have some buddies that are going to be up today and hope to get the skinny from them later tonight.

I still plan on float tubing Soldier Creek this Sunday. I have not been in a couple of months. I'll post a reply here.
BTW, anybody fished in Utah recently? Please post a reply. [just kidding]

I float tubed Soldier Creek this morning. I got there at 6:00am. I had a few very soft hits on a bugger/leech early. That was about it. I left early at about 10:00. The only thing going on was the beavers splashing the water. I tried my camo intermediate line and type III sinking line. This was the time of year I had a couple of good trips in a row there. I've yet to have a good trip in 3 or 4 tries this year. By this time last year, I probably went twice as much. I just haven't had much enthusiasm for Soldier Creek / Strawberry this year.
After Soldier Creek, I did a little exploring then ended up fishing the Currant Creek stream for a little while. I had the interest of a very small trout with an adult/emerger combo. After he got tired of playing with me I tried a hopper further upstream. A larger trout (but still small) hit it hard, but I was casting against the wind and had a lot of slack when he hit. So, I decided to get out of the stream and walk upstream to let the hopper drift down. Unfortunately, I ran into my first big snake in Utah hehe. Damn. I didn't know there were any snakes around like that hanging around (and in) the water. I decided I didn't want to be anywhere near that snake and started heading straight up the steep slope back to the road. I slipped in my brand new waders and fell back down between rocks where there were probably more snakes hehe. I was hot, tired, and thirsty. I made it back to the truck and decided "what the heck" to try the hopper there downstream. Well, as you might guess, at the exact spot where I was stepping into the water *another* snake was right there. That was it for me.
Anyway, I put away my fishing stuff today. I have a Dodge Durango and have had my float tube (or snow board depending on the season), waders, rods, boots, net, vest, etc. etc. in the back of the truck for years. They were always there whenever I wanted to go fishing. It took a long time to clean the truck hehe. The truck feels better and I'll probably feel better after taking a break from fishing.
