I will be going to Washington for the next 11 days (July 3rd thru the 14th) and was hoping some of you world travellers would have some inside secrets for me on the Yakima River or other flowing waters to hit in the Seattle/Tacoma area--Thanks.

Dustin, I think I remember reading about Yakima on Westfly (http://www.westfly.com/). They've got some good entomology and hatch chart stuff on their site too. I'm jealous. There's so much water up there. Let us know how your trip goes.

It will be a nice change of pace besides work and the like, I will probably end up hitting the Deschutes as well. Thanks for the help, Westfly is a great site!

Dustin,
Although you might not see this in time, I thought I'd just post in case.
I used to live in Western Washington and fished the Yak for several years. This time of year is traditionally higher water. The river is, after all, a fairly big irrigation ditch feeding the Yakima valley.
There are several productive sections, and I found that floating is probably the best method, especially during this high water time. If you're wading, try the area in and around the canyon at Ellensburg. I also fished the area around Cle Elum down to the Teanaway River quite a bit. There are a lot of fishable miles on the river though, so just have at it.
The hopper action is probably quite good right now. There are also Caddis and Yellow Sallies about now too.
For more info -- Steve Worley has a good website.

If, by chance, you have some extra time, give Rocky Ford Creek a try. It's out East close to Ephrata. It is and probably will always be one of my favorite places to fish. Big, selective fish and a lot of bugs. Kind of reminds me of Silver Creek.
