After the tying demo with RAW I have tried to tie a few diferrent types of extended bodies. I am having hopefully a simple probably that somebody can help me with.

The extended bodies seem to turn around the hook shank while I am tying, I just cant seem to keep the foam where I want it.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Easier seen than explained. Hold the material on the hook shank between your thumb and index finger. Bring the thread up and wedge it in between the thumb and index finger and then take it down on the far side of the shank forming a small loop on top of the shank and material. Wedge the thread on the opposite side between finger and thumb and then pull straight down on the thread pulling the little loop tight. Do this a couple times and then the material should stay on the top of the shank and normal wraps can be made.

Also, if you are tying the twisted foam bodies, after a few wraps, if the body slides off to the side, you can usually just grap the foam and twist it back into position and then make secure wraps.

Hope this helps. Like I said, it is easier to see done than to explain. Good luck!

I agree that a good thread base will help keep the foam from spinning, though I haven't tied while with wet with thick head cement.

...or a little Super Glue along the thread wraps.
