Spent three days last week on the Henry's. Harriman ranch was just a glass surface...no action at all. Didn't see a single hatch.
The Ashton area was great. We caught lots of very nice healthy Browns and Rainbows. Most were 16-18 inches in size. We caught a few in the 19 inch range and 1 nice 20 incher. I am continually amazed at the quality and health of the trout in the Henry's. It's a wonderful fishery.
Believe it or not the only surface action was #8 Green drake. We only saw two actual Drakes, but the trout were keying in on them. The action was good, but slower than what I've seen in the past. Other stimulator patterns were not effective. Droppers that were effective included PT, FBPT, and #16-18 Copper Johns. (Copper and Red colored).
Effective nymphs included larger PT and copper johns. Stone Fly patterns were not effective though there was a lot of stone flies around.
We saw caddis, pmd, and midge hatches, but trout didn't seem interested in those patterns.
Great fishing!!! Cor
