I am going to be in this area in January. Has anyone fished out there? I would really like to do some salt water fishing, but would love any help for this area. I have not found much about the area other then the Petaluma River for strippers.

Thank you

Colby D

Most of the NorCal waters are closed in the winter. Wrong time of year even for coastal saltwater fishing but you can check this site (http://www.fishsniffer.com/maps/bodega.html) and see what is going on in that area. Fish First out of Chico might have some info too.

Maybe you could hotspot him a playground or 2 then?

Colby,
Talk to Leland Outfitters in S.F. http://www.flyfishingoutfitters.com/

You also might want to drop in the Dan Blanton website, especially for salt info.

I grew up in Petaluma and have fished everying within 6 hours of there. There is Steelhead on the Russian River, Gualala, Garcia and Navarro. Up farther north you have the Madd, Trinity, Eel, South fork and many, many more. Ocean fishing you need to go to Bodega Bay where you can charter a boat or fish the rocks near there. Let me know if you have any questions...I still have tons of friends there that fish.
