Fishing in Utah is sort of like eating at Chuck-A-Rama. It is a short drive, it doesn't cost much, there is variety, but the product is nothing exceptional.

"Bigger river Browns then Montana"? Where? The Green or the Provo, the rivers of the incredible shrinking fish. No, not the Green or Provo. I'm talking the Weber or the Logan. Both have had several browns over 20 pounds caught in them. Like I said, the average fish may be bigger out of the Madison or Beaverhead, but the biggest fish by far have come out of Utah Rivers. Of course, the lakes they run through here help their growth. I doubt those huge browns are full time residents of the rivers.

I think you have to travel more in this state. I have traveled Montana many times for many years and have experienced incredible fishing . I have also caught incredible fish in Utah and it wasn't on any of the rivers mentioned. I also wouldn't feel terrible if I landed a job in Missoula for awhile. I could float a different section of a river there every day and feel pretty good about it.

Useful posts laddies, useful.
I love Montana and Idaho, although I have not spent a ton of time there. But Utah is home, and really is second to none when you take all the opportunities for outdoor recreation.
Sure, there are better places to fly fish, there are better places to hunt big game, geese, pheasants, etc. But nowhere that I'm aware of has all the activities at such a high level. Not many places you can ski in the morning and golf in the afternoon, then cast to a hatch in the evening all in the same day because they are all so close to each other. Not many places you can spend one weekend in the backcountry in a place like the Boulders, Uintas, etc and then the next weekend be at a place like Lake Powell. It may not be perfect, but it is the best place in the world to me.

Utah isn't perfect, but it's a good place to live. It still seems to be a low-key state and kind of ignored in a way, but I can't think of a better state to raise a family in. Yeah, it's mostly republican, but you can't hold that against her. :)

Nah, last time I did that here you got nasty and completely off subject without even answering the original question. By-gons. Learned my lesson and not your best hour either.
What I meant is I just think it's funny how seriously you take yourself sometimes and like to flip you some $hit from time to time about it. That's all. Nothing personal really as its pretty self evident to the masses. Usually happens when someones got the scoop on some high desert ditch you've fished since you were about five and posts it here. Whoa! Look out. 150 post later, nuthin's established and the pissin' contest rages on. Happens 'bout once a week. Which is okay, what else would folks like TS and others do all day if there wasn't a topic, ANY TOPIC, to throw their pennies into. And like I said it can be quite entertaining.
So I like to flip some shit. I can certainly take it. Can you? Certainly brings out the best...

The Utah travel industry would have us think of the state as an outdoors paradise – a playground filled with ski resorts and golf courses.
Utah is also home to millions of Mormons and their religious beliefs forbid the use of drug or alcohol in any form. So you might expect to find a state with low drug use. Yet this beautiful state has a dark side that is not often mentioned – Utah residents and school children are using drugs and alcohol and many are in need of drug rehab.
According to the 2007 Student Health and Risk Prevention Report
• In Grade 6 (age 12/13) 14% of students have drunk alcohol and 10% have used inhalants to get high.
• In Grade 8 ( age 14/15) 22% were drinking alcohol 15% using inhalants and 6% were using sedatives
• By the time they're in Grade 10 (16/17 years old) 35% are drinking alcohol, 18% are using marijuana, 4% have tried cocaine and ecstasy.
• In Grade 12 the figures jump to almost half the kids drinking alcohol – 43%, 20% have used marijuana and 10% have tried sedatives.
• 2% of students are high or drunk while at school
• 8% have attacked someone with intent to harm
• 5% are carrying a hand gun.
Roughly 7% of the population use prescription drugs for non-medical reasons.
Focusing on the separate age brackets provides one with an even scarier vista.
12-17 years
8% of the youth in that age group misuse pain relievers
18-25 years
13% of the young adults in that age group misuse pain relievers

Utah rocks.
Come on now, how bad can a state be if it has a church every 1500 yards?
Rocks......

I fished in Utah today with my orange fishin' pole. I caught some green trout. It was pretty good, so Utah must be a great state to live in. I saw 2 churches on the way home (1.5 miles). Go Y.
If Utah sucks so badly move.
Yeah all you hatters move if you don't like it! Utah is my home and probably always will be. I don't care if I have my head in the sand and practice selective ignorance!

Both Orem and Sandy made the Money list of Americas top small cities to live in for 2008!
If that doesn't convince you Utah is THE place to live, I don't know what will.
Plus, we have the Bees, which by the way, are the Pacific North Champions!!!!

ps: Bugsy, you're replies are really bordering on weird & infatuated. Just sayin'.
You know what I can't figure out? I have this issue with the shoe lace on my right shoe coming untied every time I wear pants. It doesn't matter what shoes they are or what type of pants I am wearing. Any time I wear pants, my right shoe lace comes untied.
I've had many theories thrown my way, but the most prevalent is that I just suck at tying shoes. I'm not going to argue that I am a great shoe lace tier. In fact, there is a strong possibility that I might really suck at tying shoes. But logic tells me if that was the case, I would get a fairly even ratio of left shoe lace to right shoe lace coming untied. And that simply isn't the case. In fact, I don't know if I ever even remember my left shoe lace coming untied. But literally, every day I wear pants, my right shoe lace comes untied at least once. I just can't figure it out. Any help you guys could give me on this, I would really appreciate it. As of now, it is one of natures mysteries, like big foot and the yite.
Again, any help figuring this out would be greatly appreciated.
Well TS you are doing something unique in the tying process on that damn right foot of yours that you don't do on your left. Just retie your shoes and look for the difference between what you do on your right and left.
That was some sound advice, and logically, makes complete sense. I have spent the last half hour tying, retying, and retying again....yet I can't figure out any difference. It was worth a try, thanks Nich!

LOL maybe your mentally screwing up and not duplicating what you usually do. Have your wife watch you for a couple days and find out what she sees.

Or, just have your wife tie them for you and see if the same thing happens.

Now we're talking! "Honey, you have to tie my shoes for me from now in the name of science." This is going to be great! Thanks Rip.
Maybe we can establish some sort of routine....she cooks me breakfast every day, then after my foot rub, she puts my shoes on for me and ties them with love! Wow, I love it! We'll see how this goes over..... ;)
I will have her tie them one day and see if it happens. That is a really good idea. Inquiring minds must know what the issue here really is!
