millions and millions of them or so it seemed, in the air around my house. I have never seen this number of flying ants in the air before. Thought it was a serious mayfly hatch, which we get from time to time off the canal in the back, till I caught one and saw it was a honey ant. If I was over on the river ( a mile or so to the SF), well I know what I would be tossing.
I tossed a couple over the weekend on the SF but they did better a couple weeks ago. What color were they?

black body with honey colored belly (what is the last segment of an ants body called? abdomen?)

I'd say about a 12-14. But I could be wrong. Pretty good sized for an ant but not like the leaf cutting take a nickel sized chunk of flesh out of you monsters I saw down in Brazil.

While we were at IP we got quite a few of them landing on us in our boat. Not all over the place like you say, but plenty of them.
