As some of you know TU national is having its annual meeting next week at Snowbird. As part of the event there is hosted flyfishing day with those that have come in from out of town on selected Streams and Reservoirs. The places we are looking at taking folks are the Middle Provo, Currant Creek, Strawberry River, Strawberry Reservoir and the Logan River.'
We specifically need one more person with a boat to fish Strawberry.
We need to have several people who would be willing to head up north to the logan.
We also need some folks for the Middle Provo.
This is a great opportunity to fish with some folks from all over the country. I personally will be up on the Berry trying to get a few fish on top. So if you have a boat it might be worth your time to try something new.
Either e-mail me, respond to this post or call Brock Richardson at 487-2222.

What dates do you have for the Strawberry River work Dave? The 10th also?

Dave -- just out of curiosity, what was the criteria used to determine where to take people fishing? I guess my real question is, why nothing south of happy valley? I would have initially thought distance, but the Logan is a nice little drive...
(quality streams, rivers would be an acceptable answer.)
Dave, no good deed goes unpunished.
C'mon you guys, don't you all benifet from TU? Ease up on the soap-boxing. These guys are all outa staters anyway.

The people we are fishing with on Strawberry are from New Hampshire, Washington DC and 2 from Washington State. 95% of them will never come back to the state again. Half of the other 5% are already friends of Cary and Stoney anyway.
Wow, how long has it been since I even responded to a hotspotting thread.
Over half of the people are interested in going after bonneville cutts on the Logan. The other fisheries are being very litely fished.
PBH, It is really an issue of where the TU members are.

So there are 70 people online whether they be registered or not. They now know that out of the 5 special waters that dignified TU people are going to be fishing, CC is one of them, and the SR is another . You think maybe some people might head there because of that? Maybe, maybe not. That's just how my brain works I guess.

Dave, I could do Wed. but is there a chance that a few would like to head somewhere else other than your listed hot spots? Especially for bonnies. How many people you got going? How many people do you really need? Cary, call me and fill me in.
Lonnie, tell your lady to call me anythyme.

I think that would be fine. The biggest thing is they are trying to arrange transportation. I would call brock (487-2222). I think the biggest issue is that some folks want to fish for Native fish.
PBH, I fished the reconstructed work about three weeks ago with my son. We had a ball and caught a mess of little guys. I was pleasantly suprised at the huge number of fry I saw even in the recosntructed part of the stream. lots of fish and not many big ones.

I didn't say his old lady....
Cary, Kenny said he loved the word "stoked" and thanks.
Dave, I don't know the name of the person you have directed me to and I am shy. I will do it if you do the leg work. Call your guy and see who would be willing, max of 3, to go elsewhere. Set a time and I will show up at Snowbird as scheduled to transport said bunch to requested "type" of water. Let me know of details and I will grant a good time.

Speaking of "native fish" I hear that those Rocky Mountain White Fish on the Weber are going crazy right now for sow bugs...

Send them my way. I'll show you native fish. Not Bonnevilles but Yellowstone and Snake River Cutts have their place too.

This sounds expensive. Do the participants pay their own way to the meeting or does TU pay for transportation and the expensive location? Maybe Snowbird donates a place for everyone to stay and maybe all those attending pay their own way to the annual meeting?

Good point. I'm curious to know as well.
Why, are you a TU member?

No but they sure ask for my coin. Just a bit of curiosity is all. If you don't want to say, I think it answers it pretty well for me.

I don't know the answer. I suspect the people that attend do so on their own dime, like any other conference. In all liklihood, TU covers some of the hard costs, however, a summer conference at a winter resort, like Snowbird, is incredibly cheap. I used to have an annual meeting for about 20 each July at Stein Erikson Lodge, it was more economical to fly my partners in form LA, SF & NY and hold it here, than in any of those cities, even though I was the only one in SLC.
