I'm looking to find a fly tying class. I am just getting into it, so I need basic, beginner classes. Thanks.

I took the basic class at http://www.wrflyfisher.com/ earlier this year and got a lot out of it.
It cost $100, but I thought I got my money's worth.
Steve, the owner of Western Rivers, is very knowledgeable fisher and tyer as well as being nice laid back guy.
The atmosphere was very conducive to learning, while having a "club house" feel.
There are other classes out there, from your local community education places, that may have a lower tuition, but you'll probably also pay for materials on top of that, which was not the case with Western's class.
Good Luck!

Micky at Fish Tech teaches a fine class from what I hear.

Go learn from Steve at Western, he is a great tyer, a great teacher and you will come away with more than just tying knowledge.

Western or Fish Tech will teach you quality techniques and patterns.
If I were starting all over, I'd be for signing up for Mickey's class at Fish Tech. He is one of the most analytical tyers that I know.

I haven't ever taken a class but all the guys at Fish Tech are to thank for the majority of my fly tying skills.

If you are still looking for a class they have classes at Mickey Finns in Kaysville. I am not sure where you live, but I am taking one from them. It's $40 and materials are provided for flies tied in class.
Mickey Finns Fly Box 801-593-5557
Give me an email, & I can shoot you a copy of the materials I was emailed of the flies we will be tying. I think we will learn 23 patterns.

Jordan school district offers an adult education fly tying class as well. I don't have any feedback on it so can't tell if it's any good or not. A couple of my friends are signed up for the next class.

Westay,
I took that class back when I was 12 or something so like 12-13 years ago. It was pretty good on the basic techniques and patterns. But it was thought by a very nice and softly spoken gentleman with the gnarliest combover I have ever seen to this day and he ended everything with the phase "mmmmmmkay?" At the time it was a great class to learn the how to's and get the gist of things.

Dave McMormick. Was he the teacher? I'm taking a class from him right now. I love it, he is so nice and no matter how bad your flies look he always says,"That'll work, yep that'll work". He said he's been teaching for 20 years, I bet it's the same guy.

Not sure if that was his name but it sounds like him. Super cool and nice guy but a bit interesting ; )

He still has a comeover and walks with a limp. I'm certain it's the same guy. He teaches throughout the school districts. He is very nice and knows a lot about fishing/tying. I was skeptical about him at first he kinda weirded me out the first day. But now I can't wait for class each week.
My boss takes the class with me and he saw Dave walking out to the bus stop and offered him a ride. Dave told him when he was younger he was riding his bike in New York to his favorite fishing hole and got hit by a truck. Pretty much shattered the whole left side of his body. That probably contributes to his character a bit, but nevertheless great man!
