I am going to be out west next week and hope to fish some smaller water. I would like to get a 3 wt rod and overline it with a 4 wt line for small streams. Does anyone have a Echo 2-378 or equivalent rod they want to part with? I would prefer a factory built rod with warranty. Please e-mail me through my profile. Would like to purchase and have in hand before 9/10/08. I just moved and don't have e-mail access at home so it may take me a day or two to respond.
Thanks.

I'd probably part with mine, but it's not the cheapest deal in the world...

Why do you want to overline the 3 wt? Just curious.

I am sure for the same reason I do. If it takes 30 feet of a 3 weight line to load a 3 weight rod over-lining would make the rod load with less line out of the tip. 15 feet is a long cast on a small stream.

My #3 Winston with #4 line casts like a dream. I already had the line, haven't bought any new line for it yet, but I have been very happy so far.

I also over-lined my 3 wt, and for the same reason.

Why not just go with a weight forward three?
The extra line weight seems to help someone who is a crapy caster like me out. I know it isn't the "purist" way of doing things....but oh well. I still enjoy my time throwing my 3 wt when I get the chance.
I will over gun some of my rods at times and other times I don't. On a really small stream it can be very helpful especially when matched with a shot leader for pocket water.
