We had a family reunion up at Calders Res. Part of our trip took us to the Jarvie Ranch in Browns park on 4-wheelers and trucks via the Swallow Canyon overlook and Taylor Flats bridge. While at the Ranch I couldn't help throwing some hoppers. I landed a nice fish and missed several more. I only had an hour but still loads of fun. On the return trip we came over the swinging bridge and came back to camp at Calders. What a beautiful view from the bridge. Miles of empty river, and open land, and mountain. It was a fun family trip. But not one that I could have done a lot of fishing and exploring. I have been considering a drift boat and was looking at shuttle prices and options. I realized from the trout creek flies web site http://www.fishgreenriver.com/ that there is no shuttle available below the swinging bridge, and it is illegal to float into Gates of Lodore Campground. Obviously it isn't being over utilized, and it isn't prime trout habitat anymore. Anyone have any experience on this part of the river? Is there anyway to get off the river before gates of Lodore, even if you had to winch and drag a boat out? Just curious, mostly because of the illegal float into Gates of Lodore thing. Anyone hear of any smallies in that area? Anyone have a friend of a friend who may have fished it once upon a time?
