I used one for a year and found mine to be a bit too big. It would always get in the way when I was trying to strip streamers, or my line would get hung up in a zipper or something! Lot's of room for all sorts of gear though! YMMV
Thanks Mike!
It actually looks like a pretty good deal for that pack.
I already have something similar, though. It's made by Flambeau. Zippers broke on it, but I still use it.
The nice thing about those is that you can open them up and lay the front side down. Don't lose anything that way. As you said, however, it's a bit big.
But, for $50.00, it's a good deal. I'll think about it and email if I'm interested, Justin.
Thanks.

Mike...thanks for finding a picture of the chest pack..
Fred, let me know if interested.
BTW, Mike I understand what you are talking about the pack being a little big for a chest pack if you utilize all the space. But the pack is designed in such a fashion that it can be used as a hip pack as well (the neck straps are removeable), so you can simply side it around to your back to get it out of the way.
If you wore the Troutpack around your waist it would work beautifully! No doubt about it. I'm just not into hip packs for some reason. Also, if I didn't constantly fill my packs to capacity (it doesn't matter what size I use -- I fill it completely) I'd have less problems. The JW pack, not stuffed until the zippers are about to burst probably wouldn't have been in the way so much! One thing I did really like about the JW pack was that it was easy to hang a net on the back of the shoulder straps.

The curse of pockets....like you, I just can....no, strike that... I will not let them go half-filled... or 3/4 filled...I must utilize every square inch of available space.
The same effect happens will backpacking...that is why I now shop for products that are smaller in size so that when I reach maximum capacity, the volume is not unwieldy.
Now, ironically enough I have plenty of available space in my banking account. That is one area of my life that I some how have gained control of my obsessive/compulsive stuffing behavior...Go figure:)
