My wife and I are planning on visiting some family in the Seattle, WA area towards the end of July. Does anyone have any experience in this vicinity (within 1 hr drive)? Which rivers are good to hit this time of year, and what species reside in them?

Thanks,

Lived there many years ago- my limited experience was the Snoqualimie near the girl scout camp- some brookies and small cutts and the cedar river- both are with in your drive time- otherwise I spent days on the Yakima- but thats 4 hours away.

Not to take away from the wonderful advice on the boards here, but try http://www.washingtonflyfishing.com/

I live in Calgary but often fish in Utah and western Washington when visiting family, so I like to monitor this site and that one to see how the fishing is (and when it's a good time to take a vacation :-) The people there are very helpful, much like they are here.

Actually, I will be north of Seattle myself the first week of July and am planning on trying a little trout and summer steelhead fishing. I'll have to let you know how it goes.
