I was driving by Jordanelle Saturday afternoon and noticed that it was almost completely ice free. The inlet also looks clear.

If I had a pontoon, I would probably try it on a warm sunny day, but it would probably be too cold in my tube.

I was wondering if anyone else had experience fishing it this time of year or any plans of fishing it anytime soon.

I might be interested in meeting up with you, if you decide to go. The long-range forecast, however, is not particularly encouraging--cloudy and a high of 30 F. If you don't mind, email me a day or two before you head up.

Is there a chance that it could freeze between now and then? It's probably below 10 degrees F up there at night. It's supposed to get colder too. It's surpising that the area by the inlet doesn't freeze. It seems that that area would be the coldest because of the shade.

Anyway, I want to give it a try, but not kill myself in the process. Are you taking your boat, or a tube?

If you do go on the water I advise you wear your neo full waders, carry synthetic gloves, an emergency blanket and fore sure -- a life preserver! One tip and five minutes in the water and you will be in trouble. Last year two people drowned in Jordanelle due to very cold water and a fairly long swim.
