Spent most of last week fishing local favorites here in CO. Spent a day on the Poudre but it didn't produce even thought the water is unbelievable in its ferocity. Hit the Big T twice and nailed a few dinks each time but nothing to drag on and on about. The highlight so far was my favorite stretch of Boulder Creek in a secret spot where there lives many huge fish mostly vibrant red sided rainbows. The stream pumps out some 300-800 cfs of water to feed Denvers thirsty throats and sadly their lawns and makes it hard to fish. There is in fact only two place to fish when the water is this high (stream is only as wide as the upper weber). Luckily for me this high water pushes down some huge fish that hold in a no fishing area around a dam. The beauty of these fish is surpassed by none and even the 12 inch fish possess bright red gill plates and sides. The highlight of the day was a 22 inch beauty but one of similar proportions took me down stream into the class IV rapids and I broke off. On a side note I also visited the infamous Taylor River that holds the CO state rainbow at I believe 36 inches and something like 22 lbs. Mysis fed tailwater that produced well for me in the two hours I had to fish it. Any hoo, Seattle is next on my adjenda so I will post again possible about the Yakima and maybe even some saltwater fishing.
