Cheech. I like your way better. I think it's easier than doing it this way.

I seen that there a few days ago. totally wicked if you ask me, but I like the bars a little bit further apart.
I am for rubberlegs, I would be agianst barring them.

I'll give it a try. I think he mentioned you can control the spacing by how tight you twist it. I'll try it on some red hopper legs barring only the kicker portion.
Nice try cary...not taking your bait this time. :)

Do you mind explaining your method Cheech? I like the barring to be a little more spread out also, and I would rather mark them myself than buy centipede or tarantula legs (I need to spread out my already thin fishing/tying budget)

Leave the legs longer than they should be on the finished fly. Pull the legs tight a little bit, then tag them with a sharpie. If you roll the legs with the marker back and forth it marks both sides. It's quick and the legs don't fade like the centipede legs.

Cheech does this technique to his Grumpy Frumpy. If you can attend the Expo this weekend, I'm sure he will tie some and do a demo of his technique.

Thanks for the info guys! The Grumpy Frumpy is exactly the fly I need this technique for. I wanted to attend Cheech's class at the expo, but I have another commitment that morning. Hopefully I can talk with you sometime Friday night or Saturday afternoon.
Wildnative-Can't wait to meet you also, I've been tying your chain-stitched rockrollers for years since I save them in the old Fly Fishing and Tying Journal (i think that's what they called it) magazine.
