May be of interest to a few.
I did this article for Vlad Markov's web site a few years back.

fantastic article Robert. One of the first flies I learned to tie was a sandy mite with blond hair from a horse whos mane we cut chunks out of at night when we offered her a hand full of grass, really ticking off the owner when he found out.
And if any of you ever go through Butte MT stop in the chamber of commerce in butte down by the freeway and see the collection of george harvey flies. They are fantastic.
Some time I need to work on some woven flies jsut to see if I can still do a few.

I was in western New Jersey a few years ago for a wedding, and took a drive through the country side on the way to Cabela's in Allentown PA. I happened upon a fly store in a small town along the way. They had several of the woven flys on display. I assumed they were a local or eastern waters pattern. They have a very asthetic appeal, and replicate segments and other body parts most realisticly. I also recall there were a variety of knot or weave styles. Very cool stuff...

We should all be so lucky:
"I was in the traffic department," recalls George. "They offered me a job in Salt Lake City, but I didn't want to leave the Big Hole. So I rented a cabin on the river for $5 a month, and all season long in 1933 I fished, every day, day after day. It was wonderful. I'd let all the fish go except the last one or two of the day. That would be my supper. There wasn't much store bought food on the Big Hole during the Depression."
