I posted some months back that I'll be coming to Utah for the first time. I have worked out my travel arrangements and will be staying in Midway. I plan on fishing Monday, June 30 through Wednesday July 2. The tax man hit me pretty hard so I don't think I'll be able to afford a guide so I was wondering if there was anyone who could point me in the right direction as where to fish. Coming from the Atlanta area and having never been out west, I'm sure where ever I go will be awe-inspiring. I plan on wading and will have a mid-size SUV rental at my disposal. Maybe it will be 4x4, but I won't know until I pick it up at the airport.

I was wondering if I should fish the Provo or if there is some other water I should target in the area.

At that time of the year, what flies/patterns should I tie up? I still have a couple emails from you guys with a few suggestions and will be hitting the bench over the next couple weeks. I'm not familiar with some of the western patterns, so if you have a link or two to a recipe, that would be great.

I also plan on bringing an 8'6" 5wt and a 9' 4wt. I have some small stream rods like a 6'6" 2wt or should I leave that rod at home?

In any event, any help is greatly appreciated. I hope to meet some of you when I come out.

Thanks,

Bret

I will most likely be available those days if ya wanna meet up. PMD's, Green Drakes, Terrestrials(hoppers, ants, cicadas ect) caddis(drys, poopas, soft hackles ect) golden stones should cover you top side. And the nymphs respectivly downside. Have some meeses handy for late night fishing. Bring the small set up if you like hiking a bit Hope this helps

I may take you up on that offer.

What size's should I tie? I've got a decent assortment of caddis from 14-18 and plenty of softhackles so I guess I need to focus on the terrestrials, PMD's, and Green Drakes

I'm in Heber (same valley as Midway) which is 5-10 minutes from Midway. I have no issues taking you out fishing while you are here.

16-20 for your mayflys ants and smaller terrestials
8-14 for larger ters
12-16 for your drakes

That should cover it perty roundly
