Does anyone here tie a mean Sow bug? I have been going to this fly shop that sells these Flashback Sow bugs but for some reason the person that ties for the shop is no longer contracted and now they sell these crappy Sows. This is the downfall of not knowing how to tie (meaning myself), so if anyone has some nice Sow Bug patterns let me know and I will buy dozens. Any pictures will be appreciated.

Dont know if you tie at all, but if you do here is a simple pattern that works well. It works best if fished
with the thingamabobber though--------;)

Try the pattern that "Cheech" ties up, go to his "sweetflies" site, he even has a tutorial that is very good.

The sow bug is the best thing that ever happened to a beginning fly tier. Talk about an open book, the material options are limitless. The hook options are fair too. The size parameters will only make the freshest of up-and-comers cringe with excitement as they dig deep for that #4 chemically engineered ginsu sharpened dagger on a bend‘O. The one hook we know in their hand.
It ‘s sharp! Like a an eraser.
Toss that hone?

We tied one of these up in my tying class last night .. My first one looked pretty rough, but it wasn't a tough fly to tie.
