I have just random questions so if you find something you want to answer to then great!
1. When stillwater fishing with an indicator I know you are usually using a long leader and need a slip indicator so you won't get hung up when you reel/strip up to where the indicator is. How does a slip indicator work, and where do you get them? (I have not come across any indicators specifying they were "slip indicators")
2. Cheech, are your damsebaetis nymphs for sale? And your Grumpies and Chubby Chubbies for that matter? Your bugs are way nice and innovative.
3. Anyone fish the Lower within the past several days? (Email me)
4. I have a DT line for my 8 weight and heard someone say you can cut it in the middle and store away one line for when the first half runs out. I was thinking about this and a 90 foot line would be reduced to 45 feet which seems bad in case you are belting out some longer casts. It seems you may just want to put the whole line on the spool. Is cutting it in half a bad idea?
5. Anyone know where you can find parafin wax (for your ferrules)? I tried the hardware stores to no avail. I have some surf wax but that seems like a bad idea since it is made for cold water and is fairly soft (although it would make my rod smell good).
6. Ive been meaning to go carping for a year or two now and am finally serious about going this year. I'm thinking Deer Creek is my best option at a chance for a hook up. I hear in general for carp that you should hit it before the spawn when the fish are shallow and feeding heavily. When is approximately the timing on this up at D.C? (Email me if more appropriate)
Thanks for all the help. Along with trial and error I have learned a ton from everyone on here over the past several years. I need to get out fishing with some of you sometime since ive been a recluse since ive been on here. I'll have a more stable schedule in late 08 and well into 09 that will make it easier for me to get out on one of the UTOF outings and meet some of you.

I would use the whole line and turn it around when the tip wears out / sinks regularly. The back half won't get used much, but it fills the spool nicely and you won't need 600 feet of backing instead.

#2- I do sell those flies... You just happened to pick 3 patterns that are pretty time consuming. To make it worth my time I have had to start $24 per dozen on the grumpies and $21 per doz on the chubbies and damsebaetis. For other more standard flies I charge $18 per dozen. BTW, that Chubby Chernobyl on my blog that has hackle is mostly for show. The normal one has a post but no hackle. That sucker fishes really well on the green.
Thanks for the interest and the compliment. I think the key to having success with my patterns is to find really stupid fish.

#1. I am sure there are a number of newer indicators made to slip but I, when needed, use a small corky. http://www.cabelas.com/prod-1/0017527316520a.shtml. I use a double over hand knot to stop the corky.
#2. Good question
#3. Not me, I am a MP kind of guy
#4. Yes bad idea, unless you are attempting to make some shooting heads.
#5. Albertsons in the canning section
#6. Soon, very soon. It is almost open to the boat ramp, May - June

1. From what I have gathered the reason for the slip indicator is that you can reel your line in further to retrieve the fish. From what I have gathered it works just like a slip knot where ya pull on it and it slips apart and slides down. You may want to search the site I know there was a discussion bout this last year i believe.
2. $24?!?!? Gesus Cheech dont we get a 10% UTOF discount? Word of mouth brother ;)
3. There are some blues hatching but most my takes were on smaller midges 24's ect. Mating midges worked well too. Fish were hugging the sides a bit and a lil spooky. Fished below Sundance. Try a wet dry emerger combo
4. I wouldnt recommend that
5. Last year was a lil early. There is still ice on most of DC some of the shorelines (10' at most maybe) and inlet have open water. Marty is right about the time

Sorry comrade, but as the uber-overseer of all fairness and equality here, I deem it not fair that you have all these flies and yet Nova has none. He's just as important as you are and gets very tired playing his XBOX all day so he's got a good reason why he can't sit down and tie those flies himself. Have a heart, you stingy bastard. As such, you are required to give up half of your flies and I will distribute them at will to those that don't have flies. If you decide to make more flies, I'll take those as well, thank you. Soon you will realize there is no advantage to making more flies or inventing new ones to sell or fish with and you will step in line with the program here, comrade.
Then in splendor and glory, the once fly-less masses will be helplessly endeared and reliant on me forever and my power will reign supreme until the end of time (or until I get tired). Flies for all!!!!

#3: Yes, several times. Beeeetis are showing as you would expect. The hatch comes and goes in strength, but fish are typically looking up. I've seen fish active on the surface sometimes until 5pm. Last week one day the hatch didn't really get going until about 3pm in the section I fished. Believe it or not, my best pattern during the hatch is a #22 Black Midge Foamerger. Outfishes my baetis patterns 2 to 1.

Electricians are getting $60.00 to $80.00 just to ring your doorbell. They get that much more per hour if they do anything.
Fly tyers are much more talented and so underappreciated. I feel for you Cheech!
I just got an order of crack (sorry I mean flies) from the Cheechster. A couple reasons to consider buying said patterns from him.
1- When you loose one you want want to cry.
2- He needs to feed his rug rats (and his dog needs her Peter Pan).
3- Hands down the best quality possible (materials, hooks and craftsmanship) .
P.S. I think your a freak I got 3 doz. and each doz. of all them are identical! You are a sick sick bastard!!! But in a good way...

Thanks man. 'preciate it.
Now I just hope the cost of gas doesn't effect the price of my beloved peter pan peanut butter. I might just have to switch to Great Value country style gravy to dip the flies in.

Don't yeah know the price of gas is effecting everything! At least that's what the conspiracy theorist are telling me! I know my favorite pizza went up almost 3 bucks, and I've been shopping for new tires....ouch way up.

I have to raise prices on almost everything because freight costs are going through the roof!

Note to self... don't go buy fancy little spoons with flowers painted all over them.

It's ok because your wife still will! Then I'll just give that money right back to ya with a fly order...
