In case anyone is interested, I saw this on another forum and also remember Fly Schmitty having similar gadgets at the Expo.

Nice idea: http://www.flytyingforum.com/index.php?showtopic=34617

On a related note, I've collected a large number of new thread and other material spools in the past few months and need a better place to store them. Any suggestions on a good spool storage system? I went from the peg system to a plastic box and neither of them is big enough now.

For $69.00 I might consider this or just make a really nice one for the wall, or even one that is freestanding. You could make one 5 or 6 feet tall that sits on the ground.

But if you wanna go all out....we should build the BADDEST THREAD RACK ON THE BLOCK:

How many spools of thread do you have anyway?

Between thread, wire, antron, tinsel, etc I have probably 100 or so. Probably more, but I don't count too closely.

I hear that. I always make sure I have several spools of black 8/0 uni. Black 6/0 danvilles, and black 6/0 uni. I have been going through thread like I go through raspberry jelly on a week long fishing trip.

I always pick up a spool of what I can't find. So at the moment I have about 6 spools of olive 8/0 uni. And about 3 spools of G.S.P. (which I don't like so much any more) and 2 or 3 spools of black and brown uni in 6/0 and 8/0

Ordered one of these tonight. Been looking for one like this. They also have a 60 thread rack as well. Thanks for the link.

FWIW, they have these at Wal-Mart too. I bought one, but I'm not sure I like it after putting some spools on. We'll see...
