How about a photo pattern archive that all users can post pictures into? You could develop a template that had to be filled out so that everything looked the same.
What about a trade a trip section.
Please expand on that if you would Doug...

Any pattern archive I wrote would definitely work like that FWIW. I actually have some code sitting around from a similar but an as yet unrealized project that may be of use for a pattern archive.

I agree thats my vote!

On the trade a trip suggestion someone might offer a trip to the Green river and would like to trade for a trip Wiper fishing. This could be an out of state or country thing as well. It could be shared costs or each pays for their portion of the trip. I think there are many lurkers from out of state looking for info on fishing in Utah. They might have something like tarpon fishing in exchange for one taking them fishing here. One could even trade info and not have to go on the trip. I would be willing to trade my knowledge of king salmon fly fishing in Alaska including my marked up Atlas for detailed Idaho steelhead places and timing.

I think that would also be an excellent idea!

I think allowing everyone to post pictures and maybe even allowing everyone to post a picture of flies and recipe/instructions in the fly archive would be pretty cool idea as well.

A pattern archive would be helpful to me but maybe a listing of links to other good pattern archives would solve most of the questions.
Curtis recently made reference and posted a link to Charlies Flybox and when I went over to Charlies, I found a lot of patterns with great step by step photos, etc. I assume that a pattern archive would be a lot of work for the support people to get in place on the site and maybe the links would solve most questions of a new tyer like me. Members could still post their patterns if they wanted to but when someone posts a photo of a fly with no other information, it doesn't help me much.

I'd like to be able to slap Cort upside the head from the comfort of my home. 24 hours a day.
That's not so much to ask, is it?

I guess there's a reason to everything.
"In case you hadn't heard, the database was moved and we lost about a day's worth of posts. So we had to backup to the prior day.
Nothing personal, so you can unruffle the ol' feathers a bit...

When you click the UTOF logo in the upper-left hand corner I think it would be better if it was a link to the home page rather than the forum page.
Fly pattern archive is a good idea. Maybe add swap archives as well.
I also think I should be paid to visit the site - although that may already be happening considering the fact that I occasionaly visit the site while at work.

A NFR Networking section (by and for Contributors?).
Most of us make a living in professions offering products and/or services that may benefit others on the site:
Plumbers (most recently asked about)
Glass Businesses
Insurance
Personal/Home/etc Finance
Photographers
Web Based Time and Attendance Systems ;)
Carpet Cleaners
Remodelers
Employers looking for employees
People looking for jobs
This section could be a "value added" incentive for people to pony up. By being a contributor you can network with (possibly more trustworthy) vendors, and maybe get a discount for being a UOTF Contributor.

An education section
What flies match which hatches, that is, what bug is it meant to imitate.
How to fish the fly - on the bottom, in the column, in the film, on top, etc.
Favorite rig for different types of fishing
Differences in fishing still water and moving water
A place where those who chose to do so can share their experience with the newbees and where questions can be answered with more than a, "go try it and figure it out for your self."
A recommended reading list of favorite books.
A recommended list of favorite CDs
A link list to the best of Utube and other fly fishing videos.

A free fly from Jason.
Casting lessons from Jonescort and a rod demo, free of course.
The ringmasters schedule so he can pencil me in.
Weekly gear reviews from Jonescort.
A sponge bath by cheech.
Finally, a fishing pond in my yard. Maybe I'll join the military.

I would like real time access to all members email accounts and private messages so I can know who is trying to rendezvous with who and for what purpose. And if there can be a some kind of filter to weed out any mundane details about the actual fishing (usually not too frequent a problem), I just need to know that people are trying to hook up. That, I have found to be a major factor in my success as a fisherman.
Actually I like what Westay said. Pass the meat and potatoes please. :)

I would like to add a picture or icon to our screen names. That way I could see what some of these ugly sobs look like before I fish with them.
