I am looking for a picture of Jeff Brooks Spectrumized Golden-Olive Damsel (preferably tied by him). It appears that all the photos in these threads have been deleted.

Also, a quick question.....
- is the Troutsman/Sportsman (or whatever its called) "Utah" blend the same as the mix found in the post below.

Looks like the maintenance the other night removed the pictures. But there's still a picture on page four of the second thread you listed.
As for the dubbing, check out Herb's post on page four of this thread: http://www.utahonthefly.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15777&highlight=golden+olive+damsel

Roger that, thanks!.... those threads were some deep wading.

The picture backdrop sucks.... good for the "idea" of how sparse it is, but bad for the color spectrum.

So after reading all about this dubbing and wanting to hit stillwater this year I am drooling over the prospect of getting my hands on some. Is there any for purchase anywhere? Anyone have excess they would be willing to part with? Thought I'd at least try asking =)

Mvtoro has the dubbing recipe and I'm sure a bunch of other guys have it too. The "Utah" dubbing isn't the same as the original blend. I have a little bit left....sound like it's time to mix up a bunch again. If you guys wanna split materials w/me I will mix it.

Go buy some golden olive simi seal dub, and save yourself the trouble. No it's not the same color, but I have fished the pants off the GOSD with it. That being said, I have some of the dub that I got from a dirty Chileno. I tied 36 GOSDs last night.

Well thanks Cheech I think I will try that. Hey you just made a sensible, even useful post. Whadup with that?! ;)

(not that mixing dubbing isn't a highly technical exact science)

Well, if anyone was considering doing the mixing, count me out now, I am all about simplifying my life and that there is a good suggestion. I might even have some simi in that color, I just bought a few different colors, I'll have to check and see. Thanks for the suggestion

While you are at it get the following colors.

Yukon Brown
Yukon Black
Blood
Golden peacock
peacock
Yukon orange.

There... That's about $10 of material that you won't be sorry you bought.

again, the GOSD is a really good pattern, but in my eyes, not the cure for cancer.

Herb has some of the best bugs around. Two of which are the Painted Lady and Herb's Mohair leech. Those things catch fish anywhere.

Thanks for the suggestions, is there a recipe for these flies that has been posted? I checked older posts but didn't find anything specific but again I didn't look too hard. I saw that Herb was selling them and that they would be available from sweetflies.

As long as it says Arizona Simi Seal its the right stuff. I know John Rohmer supplies troutsmens, Metz, and some other companies with the dubbing.

Been tying with it for about 4 years. I have been in his shop several times. He's a bass fanatic! The last time I was in, he sent me away with about $50 worth of materials. I also tie a lot with his big fly fiber.

You guys may want to check out your User CP. (Just click the User CP link up on the top of the page.) You can now create your own user related galleries. Everyone can create one. Registered users are currently limited to 25 photos. The old gallery should be coming back in the next few days, but I don't think it will end up being a permanent fixture due to the general level of dislike for it. I don't like it much either, but there aren't a whole heck of a lot of options without coding something yourself.

Bass Fanatic is right. The whole flyfishing for bass thing has really started to catch on down there in AZ due in large part to him. I just saw some pics from him with a 5 1/2 lbs bass that he caught from shore. He also said they released a bass that his buddy had fouled hooked that was 26-28" long! That's gotta be around 14lbs. and John doesn't often overestimate his fish. I'm probably gonna have to take a trip back home while those fatties are in the shallows.

Will this dubbing allow me to add four inches to every fish and increase my catch rate to 100 fish days?

On a serious note, I made up some of this dubbing a few years ago (OK a rather large batch). I have not had a lot of luck with the fly pattern. But then again I tend to be fishing rivers when the damsel hatch is going on as well.

I have done well using this dubbing as the abdomen and thorax on a simple beadhead softhackle fly that probably imitates a callibaetis. I have done pretty well on that fly on the berry.

Anyway, I personally think the best spectrumized mixer out there is Mike Andreason and his Abox dubbings. I have been getting as much as I can afford.

I cant say I have had any 100 fish days with this pattern, but I did mix alot of Jeff's reciepes and I've done well with
the Golden Olive mix. Scofield in June is where its at with this pattern. Just ask RMAN and Musejr. It was insane. Damsels are
usually on the move there in June. Like Jeff has mentioned in previous posts that he doesnt use any weight on them. I think
its the best way to fish them.

I mixed alot of it and I probably have about 1/2 of the gallon size ziplock bag left.

Speaking of mixing dubbing... Curtis got some raw Angora (straight from the baaaa baaaaa) and I have been dying and mixing it. Fun stuff to work with. Curtis is just happy with being able to harvest it;)

I have done black with rainbow fleck, and burnt orange with gold fleck so far. They will hopefully catch some delicious bass for me this year.
