View Full Version : New rod, suggestions?
Hi everybody!!
Just wanted to drop another line about fly fishing.
I'm about to leave the country to go home to ancient Sweden, maybe for good. Not sure yet. I'll be leaving in the beginning of May, and I want to buy a new rod to bring with me.
I'm looking for a 6-piece, 6-weight, max. $200 rod. Including rod case.
Any suggestions?
I bought a TFO rod for a cousin, and he loves it.
Any ideas though?
Thank you!

Wait to get over to Sweden and buy yourself a Loop. My little bro is over there right now, and he bought a nice Loop Multi rod for me for just under $250 US (it's $340+ retail here in the US). I haven't gotten it yet, so I couldn't tell you how it fishes on a consistent basis, but there are a bunch of guys that will vouch for Loop gear. Save yourself money and traveling space.

I know Loop make some nice things, but they are very expensive. Plus, a TFO rod isn't bad at all. But I'm gonna look into it and see what I decide too.
Thanks!

Loop is the way to go in that price range. Why 6 piece? I took a two piece on a plane with me on 3 different flights as a carry on.

Well I hike a lot too at home and a 6-pc. is very convenient to bring. Just have it outside, hanging on the pack. Plus, I've got an old 2-pc. at home as well.
Not sure about Loop, can get more for the money here than I can in Sweden. Plus Loop doesn't have any 6-pieces.
Thanks though!

Well if you really like the 6 piece the echo two might be the ticket. If you aren't as picky about the 6 piece I would go with a Scott A 2. If you watch Ebay you can pick one up with warranty card for 100-150. I got mine for 100 bucks and it has warranty card and is in great condition.

I'll look into those.
What about TFO Professional Series? Any ideas?
Thanks!

TFO professional - 4 piece.
I've had one (6wt)for awhile now. Not bad use it on the pontoon boat mostly. My rod tasts have changed some and its getting to feel a litte broom like but thats just me.

Saw some bugs on the Ogden last weekend. Should have been BWO's but they weren't. Looked like PMD's

what the hell cort are you like a Gigalo or something. For a kid you seem to have one of everything.
Look at Craiglist.com for my ad, http://logan.craigslist.org/spo/618438540.html
If you're interested in a rod like this, let me know.
If I've posted this in the wrong section, let me know and I'll delete the post and won't do it again.
Thanks!

I was just going on the price listed on their tackle site. Now it seems like my "deal" wasn't as big as I thought.
Well I cannot buy anything until I sell my old rod first.
So far it's not going too good.
