I'm in the big bug mood. Anyone who wants to try some braided stones, I'd be willing to do a few orders. Just think, these things will be moving around getting ready to hatch sometime in May locally, and last week of May around Henry's Fork and into July on the Madison.

If you'd like some to try, I'll tie a few for $1.35 each. You can see them on

Click on the picture for detail.
Thank you.

just a note here to you all: In the world of flyfishing with everyone trying to be a rockstar there is a guy with a user name of wildnative that usually stays under the radar that is probably one of the very best tyers found anywhere...again anywhere!!! This is a great deal just to get some of his flies! I am currently putting some of his woven salmonfly nymphs and adults in a shadowbox on my mantle because they are so damn good.

Robert loved your blog spot and pictures...but I reasonably sure that those fish were caught on the PROVO not the logan...there are no fish in that river.

Can you do me a dozen in a dark orange-pumpkin & brown combo (some thing that the fish would like on the SF in early July). You could bring them up with you and float the SF with me.

No problem Raposa.

Royalwulff. Thanks. I've mentioned this before: lot of great tiers out there. I still learn from some great guys on this site.

I will tie a few patterns to help with gear/gas cost for trips. This $ will go to get a new crankset for my son's mountain bike. So thanks to those who ordered a few.

I should have put this in the classified section. I'm a little slow. (Is that politically correct?)

What bike is it? I have 3 crank sets in box, they are for mountain bikes but if you are interested let me know. Amazing ties.

Put me down for a dozen, just like the Raposaman. Maybe I can elbow him out of my favorite hole come June/July. E-mail me with details of payment. Thanks, Lew

Cort, I've found out it's just the crank arms we need. It's an 03/04 Specialized Hardrock comp. Nothing fancy. he rides that thing almost every night.

Cort, brand is truativ. 175mm right and left crank arms. Think yours will fit?

I've taken a few orders by email. I've got enough to keep me going for a while so I'll have to put an end to the offer, for now.
Allow me a couple of weeks to get these out to you.

Thanks again!

Mine are a little different size. I prefer longer cranks. Sorry.

To those who ordered: The flies are looking nice. Just like a handful of candy. I'll have a hard time watching them go, but all orders will be sent out this weekend. Thanks again.

Nice ties rob.

Are you pre-coating the wingcase or tagging them post production?

For some reason, I am really enjoying tying these. It may be because I made a portable tying table that sits on my lap while I'm in the recliner watching TV. I haven't been getting the old age back and neck stress that I get in my tying room set up.

Cheech, I pull the feather through some flexament to shape it, then coat with Hard as Nails after I complete a few dozen. I have been doing the legs with spanflex or floss flex now. A little more wiggle and they don't rot with sunlight.

coreyk, I received your email and responded back. Evidently you didn't get it. If still interested send another email.

brownstalker, please send an email request. It helps with my memory. Thanks.

I'm working on a paler and smaller nymph to match the ones in F/V Gulf Ventur's posted picture. Since the Larva Lace color doesn't match, I have braided some nice embroidery yarn colors and even hand-painted some marking on them to get the banding seen on the naturals. I know, the fish probably don't care, but from an artistic standpoint, it satisfies the creative cravings. Hopefully, I can post some pictures when done.

Hi guys.

All flies for which I have received payment went out yesterday. If you still want some, please send your payment and I'll get them out to you. Thanks so much.

If you find time to email me with your fishing experiences (using the stonefly nymphs) I appreciate it. Thank you. Good and bad...I've gotten a lot thicker skin since hanging with some of you. :)

Bob, I had to tell you what my kid said last night. I laid out your flies as delivered hooked in cards on a pillow in my garage. I was looking for a decent flybox to put your stuff in and couldn't find one. Anyways, he says "Dad what's with the dead bugs in the garage on my pillow?" Now that is a compliment right there.
Nice bugs!

:) Smile to my face (which according to some doesn't happen often).
Thanks!
