I'm just getting into fly-tying, but mostly teaching myself. Are there any instructors in southern Utah that could help a newbie out?

I live in Cedar City, I am assuming you do too. Email me at jed@goodboro.com and I would be happy to give you some pointers.

There used to be a fly shop in St George. Not sure if it's still there. Something like Red Rock Fly fishing or outfitters???

Lots of good tutorial videos on the web now.

A good book is helpful.

Come up to SLC for the Sportsmen's show or Wasatch Tying show and watch the experts. Free instuction.

It's a cakewalk once you get the basics down.

Find the guy in the previous post. He's good and will help you.

No more fly shops in Southern Utah. I am not an instructor, but should be able to help you with anything you need. I have been tying for 14 years.

Red Rock is no more, but Hurst's Ave Hardware has always had a fishing department, and they have a pretty good selection of fly gear and tying materials. Ask there about tying instructors. I don't know if the St. George Sportsman's Warehouse has any classes scheduled, but they've got the same material selection as all the other stores.

Check with the guys are Hurst...they usually have some good fly fishers that work there and they could help you out. Back in the day they use to have Saturday morning tying classes and demos.....not sure if they do that anymore. Also, if Gart's is still around you can check with them too.
