As most of you know, I live in Salt Lake City and love fishing in the cottonwood canyons.

As most of you also know, Run-off is stillin full swing in both canyons and will probably continue for another couple weeks, weather depending.

My proposal is that as soon as the runoff has died down to safe levels, we have a runoff fishing party. Which canyon we should go to, that remains to be discussed. I'd love to show you folks little cottonwood, but Big Cottonwood has more river to provide for large parties.

We could rent a campsite at one of the campgrounds(spruces perhaps), and roast smores or something and tell fishing stories the whole night, we could even campout if we wanted.

Anyone interested?

I think that this is a nice idea but I am not sure I understand why the cottonwood canyons. While I have gone there and caught a few fish, they are usually very small and mainly planters. Not trying to step on toes here, just have always viewed these streams as somewhere to go after work when you dont have time to go somewhere else.

You need to bushwhack to get to the best fishing. Avoid the pull-outs and picnic areas. Also note that the special-regulation stretch was chosen for a reason.

It's close and quaint, I figure we could have a contest if anyone is interested. Not so much a contest for size, but for number, most unique catch spot, most technical catch, etc.
