Backpacking fishers...
What tents are you liking? I am looking for a good personal first-hand recommendations for a 3-season tent... for fishing. Needs to be comfortable high elevations, handle wind, rain and possible snow. Prefer roomy vestibule but looking for something light weight, under 4 lbs would be nice. I do not want to sacrifice integrity for weight as I will be in it for a few weeks.

Any thoughts on this subject are welcome from all.

hmmmmm where might you be going?

The REI quarterdome 2 person (realy just a roomy 1 person) has servied me well the last four seasons.

I have the Sierra Designs Tengu 2, and I swear by it. My brother has the Sierra Designs Baku 2, and says the same thing. The Tengu has a weight of just over 7 lbs, whereas the Baku is just over 4 lbs. So if weight is an issue, the Baku would be nice. If it isn't I would highly suggest the Tengu 2.

Cary- Headed south of the border ; )

I currently have an old REI half dome. It a tad over 5lbs. It beat but has been great. Looking to shed some weight. The quarter dome must be discontinued, I can't seem to find it.

Raff - Thanks I take a look

the QD should come in at about a pound lighter than the HD, maybe more. demensions are just a bit smaller than the HD, with vestibules on each side, which is cool. So you know what you're in for if you got a HD

Buying gear is a kick. give me your credit card and I'll set you up.

Bunch of ex-Sierra Designs folks started MH in the 90's....good stuff, good value.

You need a tent for fishing? Don't you just need a good backpacking tent.

I have used quite a few tents. Are you looking for a 1, 2, 3 man?

What price range?

Keeping it fishing related.

1-2 man... I do not like my bivy and a one man it a bit too small for my liking.

Any price... function over fashion though.

I like my North Face tents, but this is one of my favorites:

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat20075-cat20103_TGP&id=0031780516763a&navCount=2&podId=0031780&parentId=cat20103&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=IJ&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat20103&hasJS=true

It is super easy to set up, I've had it hold up like a champ in the wind. However, it is not the lightest. I like the quick set-up because when I am backpacking, I like to set up my camp as fast as possible. That way I can get right to fishing...

I second the kelty. I have a sweet north face one man that I wouldn't trade for the world.

For a 3 season tent I prefer tents with 3 poles vs the 2 pole domes. The 3 pole have more rigidity and seem to hold up better in the wind. I used to have a 3 pole kelty (I don't remember the model) that I really liked, but any good tub floor designed tent should suite you well. Kelty, MH, SD and the North Face all make nice products.

I have a MSR Zoid, and it's great. Hope to get a lot more use out of it, and it's been on some good trips so far.

I've spent quite a few nights in one in Western AK, and it's held up to the elements. The vestibule might br smaller than you're looking for... it's similar to the rain fly on your half dome.

Thanks for all the feedback fellas!

Anyone know anything about MSR's "swivel pole"? (not a lightweight stripper pole designed for the backcountry) Not sure if I like the idea of one pole like raposaNegra pointed out and the top of the tent is flattened. Is for some sort of water catchment system?

You guys really like The North Face stuff? Sorry, the sarcasm meter is malfunctioning, guessing joke.
