Results of the Park's Challenge are in. Brent aka Stout Trout won the contest with a laker that measured 33.75"!!!! Great Job Brent!!! The Scott G2 is being customized with your name on it......enjoy!!! Herb took third with a 19" tiger from Scofield. He won a new S.A. sharkskin fly line and an S.A. fly box. Good Job Herb!! Thanks to all those who participated in the contest. We will be doing another contest in the spring and it will be focused on trout only. I am thinking a pontoon boat will be first prize.

This Thursday, December 13th, Herb is giving a stillwater tying demo at the shop. We will meet at 6:00 at Park's (644 N. State in Orem) so bring your tying stuff and come prepared to learn something new or share new patterns with other local tyers. Anyone who has seen Herb do his thing knows that he has definitely put a lot of time behind the vise and it shows with his success on our local stillwaters. See you there!!

Congratulations Brent! Those lakers sure know how to tug don't they?

So if Brent was first place and Herb was 3rd, who took 2nd? And what was the prize?

I second that motion!

What kind of boat are we talking about here? And are lake trout going to qualify for the spring contest?

What kind of boat are we talking about here? And are lake trout going to qualify for the spring contest? We will have to see what boat to do in the spring. It will be an outcast/fishcat boat for sure. Lake trout are a char not a true trout so no they won't count. Rainbows, browns, cutts, tigers will be the target.

Tigers are 1/2 Char, and in Utah 100% abominations of nature.

I tend to like abominations of nature once in a while. In fact, I think an ex girl friend once called me one.

Good question do tigers count?

If "lakers" count, then Tigers count. Lake trout (Mackinaw) are not TROUT, they are char. Tigers are a brookie(char)/brown(salmonid/trout) hybrid, so essentially, Tigers count more than Lakers.

Let's count Lions and Tigers and Bears. Oh my!
Lions and Tigers and Bears. Oh my!

Looks like Detroit has it over Chicago 2 to 1.

And maybe a Cutbow and Leopard and Splake as well.

Lake trout counted for the contest that has now concluded, but the one in the spring will not.

If you can catch a bigger whitey than what stout_trout's laker, you may end up with a new State record, or even better, a WORLD RECORD. Who wouldn't want the Rocky Mountain Bonefish world record???

There was Herb, Cort, Muse Jr., Grant of course, myself, and a few other guys that I don't think are on the site here. Herb showed a bunch of stuff, but I was most interested in a pretty sexy dumbell version of the olive spectrumized damsel. I missed out bigtime on fishing those this summer. Maybe I'll have to win me a pontoon from Grant this spring to get myself in position for next year. ;o)

Your rod is in.....it looks pretty sexy with your name on it and all. I have been rubbing it all morning. Wait...I have one just like it, no need to rub.
