Fish of the Year 2007
It's only December, but I am just dying to post some pics and see all the great fish y'all have caught this year.
The absolute best for me this year was a Colorado River Cutthroat.
While huntin' around on a favorite South Slope stream, my buddy and I were taking turns on fishing a bend that slams into a column of willows
and there are always one or two serious dinosaurs hangin' out. He had just landed a very nice brown, and we could still see a large trout cruising back and forth in about 4 feet of water.
I switched up and put on the fly of the year, the Two-toned parachute ant, size 16. I put a cast over my left shoulder (which is awkward because I cast with my right hand) and the brute was just upon it when the fly was sipped by some unseen creature from below. The trout shot past my friend's leg and he kept shouting "Cutt! Cutt!" I have been fishing this stream for nearly 7 years and have never seen a Cutthroat pulled out of it.
I realize I look like I'm 17 years old in the picture, but I was completely stoked out of my mind!
It certainly wasn't the largest fish I have caught this year, but by far the most memorable, and the most beautiful!

Let's see/hear about some of the fish y'all have caught during the year,
with pics if you've got 'em.

Looking back on this year it was pretty dissappointing. I fished less and none of the fish really stand out. There was one that got away that would have made the record book, but the vision of that gaping mouth coming up and slamming a stimi was priceless. I guess I have a good resolution for next year.
I was looking for the bonfishing in the pouring rain photos, it was an awesome day. But all I could find was this, my endorsement to the rods Jason and Nick can hook you up with.

Thanks F/V! I'm pretty easy to spot with that thing, bring it everywhere. As mentioned above that sun can be brutal so I'm big on covering up.

So are those self portraits? Remote I take it? Good Idea!
Again, I really do dig the hat! Good hats are hard to find, especially ones that hide you from the sun.....I need to get a "rice patty" hat of sots now.

That's right. Days of planning and setup. Huge budgets! LOL Actually, my wife takes most of those. We want to be the next Barry & Cathy ;-)...
Regarding my hat, had it custom made here: http://www.jwhats.com/ Best hatsmith in town. Old school. Straw is the way to go IMHO. I love it so much I had him make me a new one after my dog stepped on my first and left a big hole:

sorry buddy... but the seat with the ass cheeks firmly implanted in the front is called "Matt's seat." In order to get a seat in that rig you might have to sit navajo in the back. :-)

Thanks Nich. The Nevada subspecies I guess. Came outta Crittenden(sp) Res. last spring. Would have liked to have some water in the shot but we were in a drift boat. Here's another angle of the beast:

Hey don't leave out F/V in the death match for the front seat. He'll be a good contender fo sho. Especially since they can out with the big cans of red bull!

I had heard from a close resident of that area that it was once public than the state of Nevada sold it to a private party. I guess that rumor is true. I was told some serious fish are in there.

It was a 4"-5" brown trout, I caught on Diamond Fork.

I didn't get photo documentation of my biggest fish this year.
I caught most of them backpacking or fishing stillwater.
I did document this fish I caught on a small Colorado stream....

Yes, it is (was) one of my favorite places to fish. I've been tempted to pony up the funds to buy the pass, but it's just a little too far. Fun times, though...

Funny... I have never seen you in "Matt's" seat. In order to get that spot I am certain that you have to ACTUALLY go fishing. Sorry to hear your not fishing anymore, Nick told all about it : )
...........If I were you I would clean those wounds daily. Pussy-whipping can leave nasty scars, so I have been told.

So is said "matt's seat" now going to smell of lilacs and daisys? I can fix that in a hurry;)
