UDII/Lonnie/Cary/Etc:
What's the story of introducing otters into the Weber and Provo?
Is this a surefire-going-to-happen deal? Is there a news source or article we can peruse through to get the skinny on this?

That would be awesome to see a few otter helping with population control. It might be the next best thing to rotenone.

I think it's just an idea at this point. Back in the day a few Otters did inhabit the Provo Drainage...not a lot though. The idea to introduce Otters to the Provo River is mainly three fold. 1. Reintroduce a native animal back to the river 2. Introduce a new animal to improve the wildlife experience 3. Introduce a natural predator that could help control the trout population by consuming sick and weak fish (mainly)
I'm not sure where I stand on this subject as I'm concerned with number 3. How many fish could a single Otter consume in one year? Could it hurt the fishery instead of improve it? How many Otters would they introduce to the Provo River?
