A couple of weeks ago a buddy of mine and I headed off for our first fishing day since he returned from 5 years of school in California. He forgot to pack any water, so we stop at a rural Sinclair station. We hadn't eaten breakfast and in the station there is what appears to have been a diner at one point. There are tables covered with various things and it's dark in that area. I ask the guy if they use to serve food here and he says "sure, we still do. Do you fellas want some breakfast?" So we decide to make this fishing trip an adventure.
On the wall is a picture of a big omlet with the words "Are you man enough? Eat the whole thing and its free." My buddy says "I want one of those, how big is it?" "9 pounds, says the guy". "OK, I know I can't eat the whole thing but I've got to see it so we'll split it." In the meantime the guy's wife is helping her kids finish up their homework at one of the opposing tables, and getting them ready to head off to school.
Well the guy is in the back fixing the omlet and he is the only one working the station/convenience store and people are wandering around wondering if there is anyone to take their money for gas etc. So we decided we will go back and let this guy know when there is someone that needs to pay. This guy is from Australia and is one of those people who seem like they don't have a care in the world.
Well about half an hour later he brings out this cookie sheet that is completely covered with an "omlet". I could not believe how huge this thing was. My buddy and I ate and ate on it until we could not eat any more. It didn't look like we even made a dent in it. With the appearance of the place I didn't think it would taste all that great, but it was awesome!! I was kicking myself in the arse for not bringing my camera.
Well we decided we needed to have a picture of this omlet so we hit it again yesterday, and I'm sure no one had eaten in the "diner" since we were there a couple of weeks ago. Now like I said, this is the friendliest most carefree guy, well he offered to let me take some pictures while it was cooking as well. Probably not the best idea in general, considering the lack of cleanliness of his kitchen. But I figure it justs adds to the adventure and most "authentic restraunts" leave a bit to be desired in the cleanliness department right?
I am very computer illiterate and was not able to figure out how to post the pictures I wanted so here is a link if you would like to see the amazing 9 pound omlet, plus a few random pics.

I'm sure some of you have discovered some interesting eateries in your fishing adventures, especially you world travelers. Lets hear some stories.
P.S. This is part I of yesterdays adventure. Part II to follow soon.
