I have only fished Hobble Creek once so I decided to head up today. I was fishing near the Hobble Creek Parkway turnoff. Anyway, it was one of those times where I felt I was being watched for some reason. To make it worse the running water was fairly loud where I was so it would have been hard to hear crackling leaves, etc. Several times I found myself suddenly looking over my shoulders. Anyway, I was going to experiment with some hoppers so I left the creek's edge and went up in the grass looking for some naturals. After a minute or so a lady that was riding a bike (or maybe she was running I can't remember) yells out to me that there is a bear on the trail on the other side of the creek. Anyway, a lady that was getting ready to take a run with her child in a stroller packed up and left and so did I. I slowly walked to where I could look across the creek but did not get a visual, and I was not about to go looking for the animal. Anyway, I called the Central Division of the DWR and left a message giving the location. Always be aware of your surroundings. Which reminds me of a recent trip in Idaho where we ran into two big beautiful bull moose in the river bottom. We gave them plenty of space and luckily they seemed more interested in the vegetation than us.
