I have a Lamson fly reel and it has been great. But now I am having problems with the disk drag. I have contacted the manufacturer and they said they would either fix or replace it. The problem is I have to mail it in and I don't want to be without it for that long (especially this time of the year). If I do send it in it will probably be this winter.

Does anyone know enough about these reels to maybe be able to fix it? I could sure use some help.

I'm not saying I can help, but if you described the problem in greater detail, it might help all of us figure out what the problem could be...

I don't know how much more detailed I can be. The drag simply does not work. The spool spins freelyin the reel. I have 2 spools and they do the same thing. It uses a disk type drag. When I try to turn the disk I can feel the resistance of the drag but for some reason the spool will not catch.

Not saying that this is it-- but on mine it was the , for the life of me I can't come up with the name- you know the washer idea that you flip over that changes which way the retrieve is-- odds are it is stripped. Just need a new one-any flyshop that deals with the reels should have one- I just had to change mine and AL's in Logan just happen to have one-
