Just looking for opinions here. Is this how you would approach this with a time slot for closure ? Or do you believe that if you are truely concerned with the fishery you just shut it down ?

I think Global Warming is responsi.... never mind.

Yes, I's like to see it shut down until temps are more favorable

I'll 2nd that. If it's enough of an issue to put a limited closure on it, just shut it down till fall.

I think I remember Trav mentioning that when he was in Trout Hunter last week that a fax came over the wire asking for a "Volunteer Closure" meaning that they were encouraging fisherman to not fish with the water temps being so high.

Good move to close them, but a huge bummer for the local economy that relies on fisherman dollars.

If these closures continue, I'm going to assume fishing pressure high up in the backcountry could reach a new high.

I talked to Lynn Scott from BSFlies and asked a few questions regarding Henry's lake as well. Since I'll be up there a week from today, I was just asking how the lake was doing and he told me that the temps there have really put the fish down. Its been very difficult catching them from what he told me. The water is way warmer than usual. He's having the Fish and Game show up next week to take a look into the issue of the rising temps that are out of the norm.

This is Lynn. Just wanted to clarify. The fish have been "off" all summer. Not sure why at this point and have not found the answer yet. The fish and game along with interested parties are looking into the "whys". We have alot of theories at this point but no hard data. The data we do have at this point is there should be lots of fish in the lake. The problem is the catch rates do not correlate with this data. The fish and game are very interested and work well with us and vise versa. The temps are climbing but they always do this time of year but I think the warming is coming earlier than normal. We need some rain all over. Anyone wanting to know more info as we have it I will be including it in the upcoming newsletters I email out. Just email me at info@bsflies.com and I can put you on the mailing list.

I was in Great Falls this weekend. The Missouri temps were low 70's. They are saying they may have to close it soon. It was like fishing in a salad bar, the whole river is just a mass of floating moss. Makes for some tough fishing.
Temp in great falls yesterday was 104 degrees......
