Have any of you targeted the pinks up in puget sound ever? I am trying to head up near the end of August to get into them in the sound (and maybe a few silvers in the rivers if the rivers are open). Anyway, I have access to a boat so I think I am going to target the pinks headed for the Puyallup which is close to where I am staying, and also an easy place to launch the boat.

Would anyone be willing to lend me a 7 or 8 wt. setup? It does not have to be anything fancy, but preferably have a sink tip or intermediate sink spool and a floating spool as well. I wouldn't need it until mid August though. I might try to sell a few things and pick up a cheap set up, we'll see. Anyway, I could tie up some nymphs for you (Hare's Ears, Zebras, PTs, etc.) for your generosity, or leave some sort of collateral. Regardless, if anyone has any info about the pinks that would be great!

I used my 5 weight for the pinks in Alaska. I have an 8 I can lend you but I think it would be way too much rod.

Some guys on the WA forum think a 5 is too little in the salt...The fish have more fight I guess and with a 5 it will take longer to land each fish...Ive never done it so I'm clueless...Thanks for the offer...Anyone else think I'll be ok with a 5 wt in the sound? I just don't want to get into a nice school and be undergunned.

If your on flat water I would go with a 7 or 8. I was fishing on a river. Email flyguy@fairpoint.com (Mel). He can get you all the info you need.
