If anyone out there is after a rod based on the aestetics of it, the Echo 2 is hands down the rod for them. The graphite is a beautiful wine color. It looks oh so deep in the sun, like a crystal ball. If you just look into it hard enough you can see that 32" brown trying to break your 5x. Oh so pretty of a rod. The reel seat is a really like wood, maple i think. It blends very smoothly with the cork. The cork is topped of by a notched winding check. It is little details like this and the lengths marked out in thread that make this rod such a pleasure to look at
I am not sure if I just lucked out when I got my rod (well I obviously did, I won it in a raffle) or if they all really come with three tips not the two they advertise. It comes with an accuracy tip and a distance tip, which I got an extra of. It is a pretty fast rod with with the "D" tip, no problem chucking lots of line. Feels great in my hand, with the "A" tip really nice and smooth.

All in all I love this rod.

Since I got it I have not touched my Sage.

would you concider the echo 2 to be a med-fast action rod? If so, do they make a #4 in 7'5"-8'. I've heard alot about these rods and unfortunatly havent been able to cast one yet. :(

Price?????

I don't know specifically, but when Jason told me at the expo, I thought they were fairly affordable esp when compared to Winston, Sage, etc.

Here you go...

For those that are more on a budget, there is also the echo classic, A bit slower, but still very nice.

I have the 9’#5 distance comp rod. I got it thinking it would be a good boat rod, well it is if you are 80 feet from the bank. My son has both the high end and low end 9’ #5. Both rods look and cast great. The cost of the rod is more than fare and the fit and finish adds to the value. It nice to know you don’t have to spend $700+ to get a rod that will perform.

thanks marty, your link was super helpfull. I would like to cast one, it looks like a shop in orem is a dealer and fishwest is also a dealer(on line). I live in SLC, do you know where i can get my hands on one to cast with out having to drive down south? And has anyone broken a rod yet? I would like to know how good they are on their warranty and their turn around time....

for the price I would like to try one of these out, that seems like a pretty good value. Maybe lefty was wrong-- fenwick might not be the best value.

To answer some questions...

COLBY:You lucked out. The rods do not normally come with 3 tips...just 2 tips, one A & one D.

HOPPER: The Echo2 is a medium fast to fast action. The Echo Classic is a little slower. Prices for the Echo Classic (trout weights) is $139.95 and includes a tube & sock. The Echo2 trout rods are $269.95 and come with tube, sock & 2 tips. Both models have an 8'4wt. These are 4pc rods. Warranty is lifetime, with a $30 ship fee. I've had very few reports of breakage, but turnaround is very good (1 week or so).

FOAMY: Prices covered above. Your employer carries the Echo Classic, but will not be carrying the Echo2 (excluded from big box stores)

ROYAL: You're a dork. Give me a call to test drive.

Lonnie mentioned me as a source to get a rod. I can give away all the info you can handle, but you can't buy a rod from me. If a group of you in the same area wants to set up a demo day I can provide rods from 3wt to 10wt.

I've got 3's, 4's, 5's, and 6's and I'd be willing to meet up sometime to cast. Let me know. Here's my site. Email me if you have questions.

If you want a demo day, round up at least 6 people on a weekday (4-7pm would be best for me), find a location and email me to plan a date.

This will not be a casting clinic, just product testing. I'll bring some targets to test your accuracy. I'll bring a shooting head as well, if you want to mess around with extreme distance casting.

I want to demo a rod against the echo. Let me know the date and times. If no one is apposed to AF I know of some good spots. There is a place called Miller park that has a huge open field.

I'd be happy to do multiple days of demo so folks in happy valley don't have to come up to SLC.

Cort, do you want to organize one for your area?

I am not sure if there is enough people close to here who want to try one out. Anybody from Lehi, AF, or Orem want to demo a Echo? Thanks,
Cort
