I am interested in buying a furled leader. I know from previous posts that Jim Cramer (not the Mad Money guy) sells them and is very well respected from what I can find on the web.

My question is how do you buy from him? All I can find is his email. Does he have a web address? Does he just offer a single product or can you buy different lengths for still water and different colors for visibility?

Does anyone have experience with Blue Crystal or other commercial sites? There is a site on ebay that sells with the same materials Jim recommends. Thanks for any help with this.

If you do a search on this site, there were some posts during the last year or so about furled leaders and how to make them. Some guys on this site make them, but I don't know if they sell 'em. those posts also included some information about purchasing them.

I don't know this Cramer guy but you might want to look for a company named Cramerica Industries. If my name was Cramer, that's what I'd call my company.

Fulano de tal, thanks. I did the search before and read the posts. That's why I know his email. I'll probably just ask him the same questions, but thought one of the guys here that was buying from him might know the answers.

F/V Gulf Ventur, I may eventually end up making furled leaders if I decide I like them. They seem pretty straight forward. But, I think I want to try them out before I go to all the trouble of building a furling jig.

You can also hit up Cheech. He makes some nice furled leaders as well.

If Cheech is too much of a cheap bastard and won't give you any, email me and I'll give you some.
They got "Mojo". Like me.
BTW that's a very informative forum. Not a lot of action, but what's there is very good.

On the topic of furled leaders, I've heard that you need to treat them with mucilin to keep them afloat. Question is: would loon or gink work as good? Or is mucilin that much better? I have one that cheech made but I havent used it yet.

You can use Johnsons Paste Wax if you want. Any kind of floatant should work. Just work it in the threads with your fingers. I've used the red mucillin all summer and last year. Joni tried the other stuff, like Loon and the Orvis floatant. Mucillin seems to last longer. If you fish bamboo, and it's not impregnated, you want to use the red mucillin. The green has silicone in it and if the rod ever needs to be refinished, I've heard it's hard as hell to get it off. Fisheyes when you finish it.
