when you guys take your tying stuff somewhere, how do you do it.
Do you have a seperate tying kit thats mobile?
I'm probabaly doing it wrong.. but I have a huge ugly tupperware type thing with a handle that I carry all my tying materials in. hooks, fur, feathers.. whatever..
and my vice is on a wooden thing that I lay on my backseat or my table in the kitchen.
I've seen some pretty nice home layouts.. but are those mobile as well?

I personally gave up on a fully mobile kit a while ago. I'm a material-collecto-freak and it's just too much stuff to carry with me. Plus, I hate to have to limit my tying stuff at home to fit into one large container. So when I go mobile, I just pack the items that I'll need (both tools and materials) and head out. I can usually pack it into a small bag or rubbermaid container, just depending on what I'm doing. I was considering buying the "Fly Hive", but again, I'll never be able to pack it all in one bag.
Anyway, that's just my experience.

Those 6 drawer, tupper type thingies, with wheels that they sell at office stores for a few bucks, make real nice units to take somewhere. You can strap your tying station on top with a couple of bungies and off you go.
I have 3 of them that I use to store my stuff in and the drawers are interchangeable. Just take the drawers that you need.

I have a bag that holds most of my essential tying tools and materials. I will swap out materials based on where I'm going and what flies I might be tying. It's amazing how much stuff you can fit in a travel kit.
I dont' remember the brand of my bag but here's another one that looks good.

I've been thinking about getting one of those remote control golf bags. I could put all my tying stuff in it and then have it follow me around the river.

That Fishpond bag is way to expensive! Here is a tip I took from RockStarCaddis (Clint):
Go to Michaels or Roberts craft.... they have a couple of craft bags that hold beads, plastic pockets for materials, all kinds of goodies. They come in black and grey colors.
I will try and post some picks tonight for you. I guess I better go buy another one before they are all gone ;)

I agree the Fishpond bag is over priced.
The sewing/craft organize route is good advice and less expensive. They're designed to organize a lot of similar materials.
If you have a serious amount of crap you can even get a rolling tote. I think my wife has three of them for scrapbooking. They hold a ton of stuff. So much stuff that she makes me lift them in and out of the car for her.
I'll try to post my bag info when I can take a look at it later.
